Pateo dos Solares is located where the São José Fortress once stood in the 17th century, in the white and picturesque city of Estremoz in the heart of the High Alentejo region. The building was recently rebuilt, restored and declared a site of municipal heritage interest. The pretty, small town of Estremoz in Portugal near to the Spanish border looks over the wine producing region of Alentejo from a promontory. Estremoz offers the typical charm of a historical small town in Portugal, showing off its cobblestone streets and gorgeous churches and buildings from throughout the ages. From the crest of a hill, with medieval castle towers above, Páteo dos Solares can be found in the historic upper town of Estremoz, which is encircled by a fortified wall from the 17th century. Housed in an old, wonderfully restored pottery factory, this historic luxury hotel has since 2001 welcomed guests looking for first class service in surroundings rife with historic character.
